Medicare Part D is your prescription for more affordable medications. These standalone prescription drug plans, offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare, help cover the cost of your medications.

Each Part D plan has its own list of covered drugs, called a formulary. While all plans must cover certain categories of drugs, the specific medications in each category can vary. It’s like having a menu of drug coverage options to choose from!

Part D plans also have a coverage gap, often called the “donut hole.” But don’t worry – recent changes mean you’ll never pay more than 25% of the cost for covered brand-name drugs or generics while in this gap.
